Primary Writes K-2 Program
What happened to writing in the primary grades? This 15-hour inservice series aims to put writing back in the curriculum. In this three-day series designed especially for K-2 teachers, we help teachers integrate writing throughout their curriculum in purposeful ways–even in kindergarten. We will set the scene for very young students becoming thoughtful and engaged readers and writers.
Featured topics:
- Writing to support meeting and exceeding state standards
- Writing as a support for reading programs
- Writing to support reluctant writers and readers
- Meaningful autobiographical narratives
- Building on print awareness
- Learning from student work
- Assessment that impacts instruction for emergent writers
- Planning for writing activities across the curriculum
Cost: $200.00 per teacher; inquire about site-based inservice price.
One unit of professional development available for $60 through CSU, Chico Continuing Education
